Practice Kana Privacy Policy

Effective October 13, 2026 · Gnarly Shaped Inc.

Practice Kana (the "app") is a hiragana and katakana writing app made by Gnarly Shaped Inc. You use it without an account or sign-in, and it does not collect any information about you. This policy explains what information the app handles and why.

1. Information that stays on your device

The following is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else:

Your practice progress (done marks), the last character you practiced, and your quiz settings
App settings such as theme, voice and language
A background photo you choose: the one photo you pick from your library is copied into the app and used only as a background. The app does not access your other photos and never uploads the photo.

Deleting the app deletes all of this. You can also reset your progress and settings in the app's Settings.

2. Information sent off your device

None. The app does not connect to the internet and sends nothing off your device: no usage statistics, no crash or error reports, no device identifiers. We have no way of seeing how the app is used.

Links in the app to our website or to license pages open those web pages, which are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.

3. What we don't do

We show no ads and use no information for advertising.
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
We collect no information, so there is nothing to sell or share with third parties.
The app does not access your microphone, location, contacts or camera.

4. Contacting us

Tapping "Say hello" in the app opens your mail app. We use any email you send only to reply to you, and we will delete it on request once we're done.

5. Children's privacy

The app is suitable for all ages and does not collect information from anyone, including children.

6. Your choices and rights

We hold no information about you, so there is nothing on our side to access, correct or delete. You can erase everything stored on your device at any time by deleting the app or resetting it in Settings. If you have questions, contact us below.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
